Presents!!!
So it's said to be the most wonderful time of year! I truly LOVE Christmas! It's one day where majority of the Western world will (even if it's just for a tiny few minutes) think about Jesus. To me, the birth of Jesus is very special. It's a reminder that God loves us SO VERY MUCH!!!
Personally I also enjoy the whole spirit of giving. I love giving gifts to my family and friends. I find it really satisfying when I see the smile on their face or they tell someone else about how much they love it. It warms my heart. However, because I want so badly to get gifts for them that I know they'll love I end up stressing out and going WAY over my budget. This year was no different! I ended up in tears at one stage. In hindsight it's pretty funny that I cried over something so petty but in the moment not so much :D I often forget about the cost as soon as I see their joy or gratitude. Btw I also love receiving really thoughtful gifts. If someone works out or finds something that I love without being told by me what to get it just makes the present SO much better! I love getting presents that I didn't even realise I wanted/needed but once I've got it I couldn't imagine a better present.
I wonder how God felt when he gave us his one and only son? He gave the best thing he had. It makes me think about how he must feel when people discover his gift. I wonder if he ever considered whether the outcome was worth the cost? In the bible it says
God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn its people. He sent him to save them! (John 3:16, 17 CEV) So I'm led to think that to God the people of this world (you and me) are truly valuable and so very loved. Ponder that! The gift of eternal life cost far more than any Visa or MasterCard could pay for but to God us receiving the gift makes it worth it! Human kind doesn't even know they want/need Jesus. But God knew our need before us and personally I couldn't imagine life without my Lord, Saviour and Best friend, Jesus.
