First thing I will miss, FRONTLINE!
So tonight was the last Frontline for the year and my last Frontline for a while. I'll be back so it's not a goodbye but it's definitely got me reminiscing on the journey we've been on at Frontline. I had my moments tonight where I realised how much I'm going to miss it. (Yes there were tears but hey thats just me I cant help it) I mean every Friday night for the last 9 years I've been a youth leader! This is the first thing that I've actually had a moment when I'm sad because of how much I'll miss it. Of course I'll miss my family and friends but this is the first thing that's ended for a season.
I remember way way way back when we started Frontline. Not really sure of what we were doing, Dan and I attempted to put together a youth group. We were young (well younger) , fought a lot and had different ideas of what Frontline would be but we both loved God and chose to put his will before our own. After our first location flopped because of a weird gang fight outside, we discovered Beeliar. Oh the memories of that joint! A dog coming in and biting the preacher, kids falling through the roof, cameras getting stolen and reclaimed back, using the soccer clubs deep fryer to make hot chips for everyone. It was the best. Those years turned me from an outgoing half asian chick to the G I am today ;) but seriously it's through those times that God draws out ur character and strengths! Remember to embrace each season and take the most you can out of it.
As Dan took the reigns of Frontline, it began to become what it is today. It's a place that young people discover Jesus and I've had no other greater honour but to serve it. Dan has been such a phenomenal youth pastor over the years. Him and Trace are my dearest friends and I love them so VERY much. I've never met people more generous than them, more passionate about serving God or the kingdom than them. Man, I really love them.
Then there are some Friday nights after a long week of work that going to youth is physically the last thing I want to do but God has a way of always showing me that it's worth the sacrifice. It maybe a great chat with one of the girls, or getting the opportunity to help a young person through different things. Even if it's just as small as having the opportunity to create a Godly atmosphere where kids can escape for a couple of hours. If any Frontliners are reading this can I encourage you to do more than just attend. You didn't end up there by chance. Frontline is great now but you guys have the ability to make it absolutely friggen amazing. As nice as it is to reflect on the past and the good old days, the future is way more exciting. I can't wait to come back in 6 months and not be able to recognize some of you because have all grown and stepped up.
Argh I could actually keep writing so much stuff about Frontline but it's getting late and I need to sleep!
Goodnight, God bless and know I'm already missing u all!
