Blessed to be a blessing

I've met many amazing people along my journey and each one carries their own story.
For example today I met Silas.
His story, is a one of overcoming extreme poverty and being released to dream. Silas grew up in the Mathare Slum in Nairobi, Kenya. Along with constant health issues due to the poor sanitation in the area, he also had to overcome social issues such as gang violence and drugs. Through Compassion's holistic child development program he was given the courage and hope he needed. Today, I was moved by his story.

Stories like these cause a bit of a weird tension in my heart. Why did I get such a blessed life? I am no more deserving than the next. So I turned to the scriptures about this. Here's are a few that dropped some profound revelations into my heart. Hope they speak to you the way they spoke to me.

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. (Galatians 5:13 NIV)

If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. (1 Corinthians 13:3 NIV)
